The Nordlek Federation is a Nordic co-operation organization with 23 member organizations in all the Nordic countries and autonomous territories.
Norges Ungdomslag is the only Norwegian member organization.
Every third year, the Nordic folk dance and folk music festival NORDLEK is hosted, and it rotates between Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Finland. Between 2,000 and 3,000 dancers and musicians from all over the Nordic region come to these festivals.
In 2024 it's Aust-Agder Ungdomslag's turn to host NORDLEK in Arendal.
In addition to the large NORDLEK events, BARNLEK for children, Nordic Folk Culture Congresses and smaller events and festivals are hosted in Iceland, the Faroe Islands, Greenland and Åland. You can read more about all this on www.nordlek.org .
Arendal is a large city with a compact city center. NORDLEK wants to fill the city with dance and music, and it is a short walk between the various arenas.
The main area is on Sam Eyde's square and Kulturhuset, with Kulturkammeret, Kanalplassen, Torvet and Pollen close by.
